BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech freshman Alia Skinner has been selected to participate in U.S. Soccer's U-20 Women's National Team Virtual Meetings. Meetings with the U-20 Women's National Team player pool will remain fully virtual with U-20 Head Coach Laura Harvey, among others.
Skinner, who led the ACC in saves with 83, started in 16 of the Hokies' 17 games. She recorded a 1.42 goals against average, which ranked fourth in the league. Skinner averaged 5.19 saves per game, which ranked second among ACC players. The Fleming Island, Florida native charted a season-high 12 saves in a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 4.
"We are extremely proud of Alia and her recent call-up to the U-20 U.S. National Team pool," Virginia Tech head coach Chugger Adair said. "We realize what a tremendous keeper she is and how much potential she has, and are excited to see that ability was noticed by the U.S. Soccer staff.

No stranger to the U.S. Women's National Team pool, Skinner previously spent time at the U-14, U-16 and U-18 levels. She was a part of the U-16 national team that won the Torneo Delle Nazioni championship in April 2018.
The first virtual meeting for the U-20 national team is set for Friday, May 21.
