HOKIES
Virginia Tech (6-6-3, 5-5-2 ACC) took a winding road to the postseason during the unique 2020-21 season. After a successful fall that saw the Hokies reach a No. 4 ranking and the breakthrough of eventual No. 1 MLS Draft selection Daniel Pereira, the team had to adjust in the spring.

Tech dropped a pair of matches in double overtime to No. 1 Clemson (13-3-2, 7-3-2) and No. 5 Pitt (13-3, 9-1) before being able to put together a full-strength side in the final three games of the regular season. Kristo Strickler made his arrival known when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against No. 15 North Carolina (7-4-3, 7-2-3) on the road. The Hokies continued their run through South Bend, Indiana, defeating Notre Dame (8-9, 4-7) 2-0. UMass (7-1-3, 3-1-2), a fellow tournament team, came to Thompson Field and played Tech to a 3-3 draw.

That run of results was enough to punch Virginia Tech's ticket to its fifth straight NCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship. In the last five years, only six teams have achieved such a feat: Indiana, Maryland, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Washington.

BEAVERS
Oregon State (9-4, 6-4 PAC 12) qualified for its fifth NCAA men's soccer championship this season. The Beavers have one of the most aggressive attacks in the country, averaging 2.54 goals per game. Leading the way for Oregon State is the nation's leading goal scorer, Gloire Amanda, who has notched 15 goals this season.
