CLEVELAND – Virginia Tech running back Khalil "Juice" Herbert was selected No. 217 overall by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.
The 5-foot-9, 212-pounder becomes the first Tech running back/fullback selected in the NFL Draft since 2017 (Sam Rogers). He joins Rogers, David Wilson (1st round, 2012) and Ryan Williams (2nd, 2011) for Tech running backs taken in the last decade.
A third-team All-ACC selection this past fall, Herbert led the Hokies' potent rushing attack with 1,182 yards on the ground, while his 107.5 yards per game rushing average ranked second in the ACC. Hebert finished the season with six 100-yard rushing games.
The Bears are coming off an 8-8 season in 2020-21, finishing second in the NFC North.
