Opens in a new window ACC Release

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech men's soccer players Kristo Strickler and Nathan Durst have swept the ACC Player of the Week honors for the week of April 5, 2021.

The Hokies earned the accolades following a 1-0 victory on the road against No. 15 North Carolina. The win marked the first time Tech defeated the Tar Heels since 2011.

Strickler's 52nd-minute goal was the lone score in the contest and the 28th of his four-year career at Virginia Tech. This is the second time in his career that Strickler has been recognized as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, the first coming the week of Oct. 23, 2018.

Durst provided the assist on Strickler's goal and was solid in the back for the entirety of the game. One of the highlights of the match was Durst's come-from-behind slide tackle late in the first half to break up a chance for North Carolina. This is the defenders first time receiving the ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
