Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team lost 9-4 Wednesday night in the first round of the ACC Tournament at Dorrance Field. The loss drops the Hokies to 5-11 on the season.
Paige Tyson scored Tech's opening goal at 21:28 to tie the game before the Orange scored the opening frames final four goals top take a 5-1 lead into the half.
Out of the locker room, Paige Petty scored the first goal of the second half, her 227th career point, before Syracuse scored three straight to open an 8-2 advantage, their largest of the game.
Syracuse, (13-2) got two goals apiece from Sam Swart, Emma Tyrell and Meghan Tyrell to pace the offense.
Angie Benson made 11 saves in the game to keep the Hokies in it, her fourth game with double digit saves in 2021.
Paige Tyson scored two goals to lead the attack and Sarah Lubnow provided three assists in the game.
