BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team is back on the field on Saturday, April 17 for a contest at No. 8 Duke. The game will start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
The Hokies defeated No. 19 Elon 10-5 in their last outing on Wednesday evening, securing the first ranked victory of the season. Midfielders Emma Crooks and Paige Petty each scored hat tricks in the game and the defense was sound, backed up by Morgan Berman in goal who got her second start of the season. She allowed five goals, the joint-fewest against a ranked team in program history.
She made six saves and caused two turnovers against the Phoenix.
In the first matchup against Duke in February, the Hokies fell 12-8 in a game that saw four Hokies; Crooks, Petty, Sarah Lubnow and Caroline Allen each score two goals.

The Hokies have not won consecutive contests yet in 2021. Coming off a win at No. 19 Elon, the program has a chance to defeat back-to-back ranked opposition for the first time since the 2018 season.
Tech's last win vs. a top 10 opponent came on Feb. 24, 2018, vs. No. 10 Duke, winning 17-14.
