LYNCHBURG – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 5-2 road victory against Liberty on Wednesday afternoon.
The Hokies (6-16, 0-13 ACC) started the afternoon with a strong showing against the Flames (17-6, 6-0 ASUN) in doubles. After Katie Andreini and Erika Cheng earned a convincing win on Court 3, the No. 70 duo of Shene Disbergen and Rita Pinto secured the point on Court 2.
Tech would go on to dominate the match with four wins in straight sets in singles. No. 119 Nika Kozar earned her second straight win with a 6-0, 6-3 win on Court 2. Elizabet Danailova followed that up quickly with a 6-3, 6-0 win on Court 6. Rita Pinto clinched the win for the Hokies with a strong performance on Court 4, winning 6-2, 6-1. Katie Andreini added on a point for Tech with a 6-4, 6-1 result to end the day.
The Hokies will begin play in the ACC Championships on Wednesday, April 21.
