BLACKSBURG – Following incredible performances on the road at East Tennessee State and Wake Forest, Virginia Tech right fielder Gavin Cross has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Cross went 10-for-20 (.500) during the week with nine RBIs, three home runs, two doubles, and a triple. The freshman hit for the cycle in Tuesday's win against ETSU – going 4-for-6 with seven RBIs.
The Tennessee native had six hits against Wake Forest, racking up a hit in every game. He also had an extra-base hit in every game last week.
The last Virginia Tech player to be recognized ACC Player of the Week was Sam Fragale in 2017. Chris Gerard was recognized as Pitcher of the Week in 2019.
