WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Virginia Tech women's tennis fell to Wake Forest, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon in its final ACC match of the regular season.
The Hokies (5-16, 0-13 ACC) dropped the doubles point to Wake Forest (10-9, 6-5), but bounced back in singles with a competitive performance that might not be reflected on the scoreboard.
Leading the way for Tech was Nika Kozar, who downed her opponent, Anna Brylin, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Tamara Barad Itzhaki battled back after dropping her first set to No. 15 Carolyn Campana to force the match on Court 1 to a third set. Barad Itzhaki ultimately dropped the match, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Elizabet Danailova also went three sets on Court 5 against Casie Wooten, she but fell in the final match of the afternoon.
The Hokies will wrap up their regular season schedule on the road Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Liberty (17-5, 6-0 ASUN).
