BLACKSBURG – After a strong opening to the outdoor season, the Virginia Tech track and field squads are set to travel to two meets this weekend. The sprints and throws squads head to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the Florida Relays, while the jumps group heads up the road to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Invitational.
Virginia Tech finished the 2021 indoor season on a high note, placing 14th on the women's side and 16th on the men's side at the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
The Hokies rank 10th in the Southeast Region of the USTFCCCA Women's Outdoor poll, and the men's squad ranks 12th.

Headed for warmer weather, the sprint and throws squads look to take on the competition at this weekend's Pepsi Florida Relays. Freshmen Cameron Rose and Makhia Jarret continue to make impressive progress in short distance events, with Rose placing fourth in the 200m at last weekend's Raleigh Relays.
Sara Killinen and Emma Thor are taking advantage of their outdoor season and will look to continue their momentum following top three finishes in last weekend's hammer throw competition. Tyson Jones has his eyes set on the national competition in the shot put and discus.

Led by Chauncey Chambers, who won the triple jump at the Raleigh Relays with a mark of 51' 8.5" (15.76m), the throws group head to Charlottesville and are set to take on strong regional competition.
