CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 33 Virginia Tech men's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 4 Virginia on the road Thursday afternoon.

Despite dropping the doubles point, the Hokies (9-7, 5-5 ACC) started the afternoon with a huge result from sophomore Jordan Chrysostom and freshman Ryan Fishback, the No. 35 duo, defeated Virginia's (16-2, 10-0) No. 4 pair of Carl Soderlund and William Woodall. The Cavaliers went on to clinch the doubles point.

Tech was sized up against a strong Virginia lineup that featured five ranked players. Fishback earned his second ranked win of the season when he downed No. 83 Ryan Goetz in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Matthis Ross and senior Carlo Donato both went three sets with their ranked opponents, but were unable to come away with wins.

The Hokies will return to action on Wednesday to face No. 32 VCU in Richmond.Gallery: (4-1-2021) 2021 MEN'S TENNIS AT VIRGINIA
