GREENSBORO – The Virginia Tech women's basketball team shot just 35% Friday night and scored 55 points in a 13-point loss to the AP No. 3 and second-seeded NC State Wolfpack in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Hokies are 14-9 on the season and will await an assignment from the NCAA Selection Committee on Monday, March 15.
State opened up a lead in the first quarter through center Elissa Cunane who scored six of the team's opening 11 points. Her counterpart Elizabeth Kitley would lead the Hokies back scoring consecutive buckets of her own.
The Wolfpack, 18-2 would extend the lead in the third period where the Hokies found baskets hard to come by and the team in white took advantage of their opportunities at the free throw line.
The Hokies, who struggled shooting all night scored just five 3-pointers tying a season low. All-ACC guard Aisha Sheppard scored six points and shot 2 for 15 from the field.
Kitley paced the Hokies again Friday scoring 20 points and the All-ACC center corralled a team-high nine rebounds.
Cunane scored a game-high 27 on 10 for 15 shooting.

•Virginia Tech is now 2-23 against the Wolfpack all-time and 1-1 in ACC Tournament games.
•Kenny Brooks' record moves to 100-58 at Virginia Tech and 437-180 in his career.
•Tech is 3-6 all-time on March 5.
•The starting lineup of Georgia Amoore, Aisha Sheppard, Cayla King, Azana Baines and Elizabeth Kitley accounted for 53 points.
