BLACKSBURG – The No. 13 Virginia Tech men's soccer team fell 4-2 to Duke on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Field.

The two sides exchanged the ball throughout the first half, but it was the visitors that were able to pounce first. Nick Pariano opened the scoring in the 26th minute for the Blue Devils (3-7-2), then Daniel Wright quickly doubled the lead for Duke moments later in the 28th minute.

Jacob Labovitz got the Hokies (4-3-2) back into the contest quickly when he bicycle kicked off the bounce a Kyle McDowell throw-in in the 30th minute. Kahlil Dover nearly leveled the score for Tech before the half, but the Duke's keeper denied the chance.

Duke expanded its league with back-to-back strikes from Nicolas Macri and Stephen O'Connell in the 54th and 55th minute.

Andrew Weber was able to find a deflected ball at the back post to add a second goal for the Hokies in 85th minute.

Tech returns to Thompson Field next Saturday at 5 p.m. to host No. 1 Clemson (8-2-1).
