Hokies Fall to No. 49 Notre Dame

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to No. 49 Notre Dame 4-1 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles, senior Nina Sorkin and junior Annie Clark looked impressive on Court 2, winning 6-3. However, after a close match on Court 3, The Hokies (2-8, 0-5 ACC) lost the doubles point to the Fighting Irish (8-5, 3-3).

In singles, Sorkin continued her win streak for the day beating Julia Lilien on Court 3, 6-4, 6-3. Graduate student Shene Disbergen also had a strong performance on Court 6, ultimately winning by retirement. Notre Dame wrapped up the match as Tamara Barad Itzhaki put up a strong performance against No. 109 Cameron Corse 5-7, 5-7.

The Hokies will return to action on the road on Wednesday, March 10 to face Marshall (3-2, 0-0 C-USA).
