BLACKBURG – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to Louisville, 5-2, at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, the Hokies (2-7, 0-4) kept it close on Court 1 and Court 3, but could not stop the Cardinals (6-4, 3-2) from grabbing the point.

Tech struggled to get momentum going in singles, as Louisville was able to clinch the match through after three matches finished. However, senior Nika Kozar stormed back from a first set loss to push her match to three sets, ultimately winning by retirement. Freshman Tamara Barad Itzhaki wrapped up the day by overcoming a first set deficit, as well, to win a 10-point tiebreak, and earn her first career victory on Court 1.

The Hokies will return to the court Saturday to face Notre Dame (7-5, 2-3) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
