BLACKSBURG – The No. 38 Virginia Tech men's tennis team fell to No. 1 North Carolina 7-0 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center this Friday afternoon.
The Hokies (8-6, 4-4 ACC) faced two ranked duos in the double's matchup. The graduate pair of Mitch Harper and Alex Ribeiro downed the No. 75 duo of Mac Kiger and Simon Soendergaard, 6-4. North Carolina claimed the doubles point in a tight match on Court 3.
The Tar Heels (13-0, 5-0 ACC) fielded five ranked players in their singles lineup. North Carolina claimed the match after straight set wins on Court 1, Court 6, and Court 4. The Hokies went to three third sets against the Tar Heels.
The Hokies will return to the court Sunday to face the No. 36 Duke Blue Devils (7-5, 3-1 ACC) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
