Hokies to host No. 1 North Carolina, No. 36 Duke

BLACKSBURG – The No. 38 Virginia Tech men's tennis team will welcome two ranked opponents this weekend to the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center – No. 1 North Carolina and No. 36 Duke.

HOKIES
No. 38 Virginia Tech (8-5, 4-3 ACC) will be back in action for the first time since March 14. Before that, the Hokies played four conference matches in the span of seven days and went 3-1 in those contests. In the latest ITA rankings, Tech placed two players in the singles standings – No. 49 Alex Ribeiro and No. 96 Matthis Ross. For doubles, the Hokies also have two ranked duos – No. 36 Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback and the No. 53 pair of Chrysostom and Ribeiro. Sunday's match will serve as senior day for the Hokies, when Ryan Kros, Chase Bernstine, Mitch Harper and Alex Ribeiro will be honored.
 
TAR HEELS
No. 1 North Carolina (12-0, 4-0 ACC) will face Tech for the second time this season, though its previous 4-3 defeat of the Hokies did not count to the conference record. The Tar Heels boast five players in the latest singles rankings – No. 24 RInky Hijikata, No. 41 Brian Cernoch, No. 53 William Blumberg, No. 58 Benjamin Sigouin, and No. 74 Simon Soendegaard. In doubles, North Carolina has four ranked duos: No. 5 Blumberg and Cernoch, No. 54 Blumberg and Adam Neff, No. 59 Neff and Soendegaard, and No. 75 Mac Kiger and Soendegaard.

BLUE DEVILS
No. 36 Duke (7-5, 3-1 ACC) will travel to Charlottesville to play No. 6 Virginia (13-2, 7-0 ACC) before facing Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Blue Devils have three ranked players in their singles lineup: No. 92 Garrett Johns, No 94 Edu Guell, No. 101 Andrew Zhang, along with one ranked doubles pair – No. 12 Johns and Sean Sculley.
