BLACKSBURG – In its second contest this weekend, the Virginia Tech volleyball team edged past Syracuse 3-2 on Sunday afternoon inside Cassell Coliseum.
Tech moves to 6-7 on the season and 5-7 in the conference. The Orange fall to 5-7 thus far on the year and 5-7 in ACC play. The Hokies notched their first win in the spring slate and defeated the Orange for the first time since 2016.
Tech saw strong performances from all over the court as three Hokies reached double figures in kills including outside hitters Kaity Smith (19), Ashley Homan (15) and Marisa Cerchio (16).
Setters Brie Postema and Mara Perry combined for 56 total assists as they both notched their career highs in the victory. Postema went off for 36 assists and Perry dished out 20 in the win. Postema also recorded two aces for the second straight outing.
On the defensive end, the Hokies scooped up 68 digs compared to Syracuse with 63. Libero Logan Mosley notched a season-high 25 digs against the Orange. Tech collected two solo blocks and 16 block assists in the win. The Hokies kept Syracuse at bay on the offensive end as they forced the Orange to a hitting percentage of .168 on the floor.

- Outside Hitter Smith now sits at 13th all-time at Tech with 1099 kills in her career.
- With the 15 kills today, outside hitter Homan now has 132 on the season.
- Libero Mosley scooped up a season-high 25 digs today, Mosley now has 668 digs in her career.
- Setter Brie Postema now has 84 assists over her last four outings.
