BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech hopped out to a four-goal lead early in the first half behind goals from Paige Tyson, Paige Petty and Emma Crooks in their return to Thompson Field before the visiting Jacksonville Dolphins got a foothold in the contest mounting a comeback that culminated with an overtime thriller.
With under 10 seconds on the clock in regulation, Tech's Jacelyn Lazore tied the game with a free position effort, pushing the game into overtime.
In the extra session, the Hokies won the draw and controlled the ball for the entirety of the three minutes after an initial shot hut the post and was gathered by Tech, but they were unable to get another shot.
Jacksonville won the draw in the second half of overtime and attacked the cage, resulting in a goal from Sarah Elms to earn the victory and move to 4-0.
Virginia Tech is 2-5 on the season.
