Bolen, Latona earn All-American honors in Session V

ST. LOUIS – After Korbin Myers earned All-American status in the quarterfinals, Virginia Tech wrestling has three All-Americans from the 2021 NCAA Championships as Hunter Bolen and Sam Latona earned the honors Friday night. 
 
Both Hokies got the job done in the bloodround to clinch a place in the championships. Latona and Myers will wrestle in Saturday's consolation semifinals, while Bolen will wrestle for seventh.
 
After five sessions, the Hokies are 14th in the team standings with 32.0 points. Tomorrow's action can be seen on ESPN2 starting at 11 a.m. ET with every mat available to be streamed on the ESPN app.
 
SESSION V NOTES

  • Latona and Bolen won Tech's 42nd and 43rd All-American medals with their wins Friday night in the wrestlebacks.
  • Bolen is an All-American for the second straight season after being named a First-Team All-American in 2020 by the NWCA after the 2020 NCAA Championships were canceled.
  • The Hokies have at least three placewinners for the eighth straight championships.
  • Latona defeated West Virginia's Killian Cardinale for the second time this season, winning both decisions by one point.
  • Bryce Andonian's first NCAA trip came to an end in the bloodround with a 5-2 decision loss. The sophomore ended the year with a 10-4 record in his second season.
