GREENSBORO - Reka Gyorgy earned Honorable Mention All-American in the 500-yard freestyle during the second day of the NCAA Championships in Greensboro.
Gyorgy swam a time of 4:42.04 placing 12th overall in the competition. This is her third honorable mention honor, following her acknowledgement in the 400 IM in 2018 and 800 freestyle relay in 2017.
Freshman Emma Atkinson broke the school record in the 100 backstroke during her leadoff split in the 400 medley relay this evening. Atkinson swam a time of 51.44, breaking her previous time set earlier this year that tied for first at 51.86. This marks Atkinson's ninth school record including five individual and four relay times.
Competition will resume Friday morning at 10 a.m. with preliminary events. The Hokies will be competing in the 400 IM, 200-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Backstroke and Three-meter Diving event.
