Tech downed by No. 14 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 14 Virginia at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar's Head Resort on Saturday afternoon.
 
In doubles action, freshman Katie Andreini and sophomore Erika Cheng kept a tight match against the doubles team of Vivian Glozman and Amber O'Dell on Court 3, until the game was called short due to the point being clinched.
 
The Cavaliers (9-2, 5-1 ACC) fielded five of their ranked players in the singles portion and clinched the match with straight set wins on Court 4, Court 1, and Court 2. Andreini put up a strong performance against Hibah Shaikh on Court 5, but lost the match in the tiebreaker.
 
The Hokies (3-9, 0-6) will be back on the court Monday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. to face Radford (2-4) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
