No. 26 Tech set for Valspar Augusta Invitational

BLACKSBURG — Coming off a sixth-place finish on Kiawah Island, the 26th-ranked Virginia Tech women's golf team will travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Valspar Augusta Invitational, which will be contested March 13-14 at the 6,249-yard, par 72 Forest Hills Golf Club.
 
The Hokies will be going up against stiff competition yet again as the top three teams in the country are entered – No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 2 Duke and No. 3 South Carolina. Of the 16 teams entered, seven are ranked inside Golfstat's Top-25.
 
For the third straight tournament, Tech's lineup will feature Emily Mahar, Becca DiNunzio, Keerattriya Foocharoen, Alyssa Montgomery and Jessica Spicer. Sarah Spicer will compete as an individual.
 
In the Hokies' last tournament, Mahar paced the team with the eighth top-10 showing of her career. The senior tied for ninth at 9-over 225. DiNunzio notched her second straight top-20 finish by tying for 20th at 228. She led the field with 43 pars – four more than the nearest competitor.
 
Saturday will feature 36 holes of continuous play beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Sunday's final round will get underway at 9 a.m.
