No. 18 Hokies prepare for ACC series against Seminoles

BLACKSBURG – Coming off of a two-game series with in-state foe VCU (6-6), No. 18 Virginia Tech baseball prepares to face Florida State this weekend starting with Game 1 on Friday at 4 p.m. at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park, with all games being broadcasted on ACC Network.

The Hokies (8-3, 4-2 ACC) and Seminoles (4-5, 2-4) will meet for the first time since 2019. The 'Noles lead the all-time series 46-15.

Tech is heading into the series with a 4-2 conference record, its best ACC start since 2015.

ON THE CALL

The matchup will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Evan Hughes (play-by-play) and Andrew Wells (analyst) on the call Friday and Saturday and Bailey Angle (play-by-play) and Wells (analyst) on Sunday, while Bryant Johnson will broadcast on Virginia Tech Sports Network.

LAST TIME OUT

The Hokies split the two-game series with the Rams during the week, taking Game 1 on a walk-off from Kevin Madden to win 10-9. Gavin Cross and Madden both had four hits in Game 1, contributing to Tech's 15 hits. Matthew Siverling got his second win of the season and Lucas Donlon got his first career home run. The Hokies struggled in Game 2 against VCU despite having 11 hits and three doubles, falling 10-6.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Madden has been shining for the Hokies in the last few games. He is currently batting .348 and is tied with TJ Rumfield for the most hits on the team (16). Madden also has nine RBIs on the year and two doubles. The third baseman is second on the team in batting average against ACC foe (.333). He has nine hits and seven RBIs in ACC play.
