Hokies fall at No. 16 NC State, 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. – Finishing its road swing in the state of North Carolina, the Virginia Tech men's tennis team fell to No.16 N.C. State 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

The Hokies (5-4, 1-2 ACC) fell behind early by losing the doubles point to the Wolfpack (5-4, 4-1), then dropped another point on Court 1 when No. 7 Alexis Galarneau defeated Alex Ribeiro 6-2, 6-1.

As Tech went on to lose, both freshmen didn't go down without a fight. On Court 6, Freshman Alvaro Ariza downed Robert Turzak 6-3, 6-2 and Freshman Ryan Fishback claimed a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Martin Rocens.

The Hokies will head home to face the Miami Hurricanes (4-4, 2-1) at noon on Sunday, March 7 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
