Virginia Tech (4-2) is currently riding a three-game win streak after dropping two of its first three matches to ranked opponents. In their last two outings against Davidson and Boston College, the Hokies have served two 7-0 shutouts. No. 38 Mitch Harper has started off 2-0 since being added into the lineup and freshman Hugo Maia still stands undefeated on the season. The Hokies are 3-0 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center this year.

JMU (0-0) will open its season against Tech after its match against Drexel was postponed last Friday. The last time these two programs met was in February 2019 in Blacksburg, where the Hokies walked away with a 4-0 win.
