GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men's swimming and diving team broke four school records in the first two events on the first day of the 2021 Men's ACC Championships.
The meet began with the 200 medley relay, the team of Blake Manoff, Carles Coll Marti, Antani Ivanov and Thomas Hallock beat the school record with a time of 1:23.91, tying for fourth place overall.
A similar team of Manoff, Coll Marti, Ivanov and Tornqvist crushed the school record and placed second overall in the 800 freestyle relay. The team swam 6:14.04, over two seconds faster than the previous time set in 2019.
Blake Manoff broke two school records of his own in both relay events. In the 200 medley, Manoff had a 50 back split of 21.16, defeating the previous time of 21.22 set in 2014. In the 800 free relay, Manoff swam a 200 free split of 1:32.23 beating the previous time by over a second.
After the first two events the Hokies sit in second place with 164 points. Competition will resume tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. with coverage availble through ACCNX.
