Lacrosse team set to play host to Longwood Wednesday afternoon

BLACKSBURG – The No. 15 Virginia Tech lacrosse team is set for their home opener Wednesday afternoon against Longwood at 3 p.m. The game, played at Thompson Field will be available on ACC Network Extra.
 
Tech moved up two spots in the Inside Lacrosse Poll this week following a 12-8 loss at then-No. 12 Duke. In that game, four Hokies; Sarah Lubnow, Caroline Allen, Paige Petty and Emma Crooks each scored two goals. 
 
Defender Elena Ricci is tied for the ACC lead with 4.0 ground balls per contest, and is also one of three Hokie defenders to averaged 2.0 caused turnovers this season along with Jordan Tilley and Mary Clare McCarthy.
 
The Lancers lost to VCU 20-8 in their first game of the season on February 17. Attacker Emma Johnson scored four goals and Kylee Wright made 14 saves in goal.
