Kozlova, Ukraine ready for upcoming friendlies

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's soccer forward Nicole Kozlova has received another call-up to the Ukrainian Senior National Team and will rejoin her home country for a couple upcoming friendlies in Antalya, Turkey.

Ukraine is scheduled to play Serbia (Feb. 20) and India (Feb. 23) in a pair of tune-ups ahead of April's final stage of qualifying for the UEFA Women's Euro (July 6-31, 2022).

"This international window is a great opportunity for our team to get some games under our belts and some training together as we prepare for April," Kozlova said. "April will be huge for us as it will be the last stage of Euro Qualifiers. March 4 is the draw to find out who we are playing. This is a really important camp as we continue our preparation to qualify for Euros."

Kozlova's latest trek across the pond marks her sixth camp for the Senior National Team. The redshirt sophomore, who has seven CAPS with Ukraine, scored twice against Greece last September.

"We, the players, staff, and program, are excited once again to support Nicole as she attends another European tournament," Virginia Tech women's soccer head coach Chugger Adair expressed. "We are happy for Nicole – she will be playing for the full national team and in high-level games. These experiences representing your country are special and are well-deserved for Nicole. We will miss her during this trip, but will be watching her success from afar."

The Hokies' 2020-21 season resumes March 7 at Charlotte. Tech (5-8, 4-4 ACC), which won four of its final five regular-season fixtures last fall, is scheduled to play four opponents this spring – including a neutral-site tilt with Auburn on April 16 in Bradenton, Florida.
