Hokies serve a shutout against Davidson

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team dominated Davidson from start to finish en route to a 7-0 victory on Saturday.

The Hokies (2-3) made quick work of the Wildcats (1-4) in the doubles, clinching the point on Courts 2 and 3.

Freshman Jordan Chrysostom and graduate student Mitch Harper defeated Yash Parikh and Douglas Macintosh, 6-2, followed by freshman Hugo Maia and sophomore Matthis Ross earning the same result against Camden Mazzoni and William Clark.

Former All-ACC player Harper, No. 38 in the country, made his first appearance of the season in singles and picked up where he left off last season, winning 6-2, 6-1. Last week's UTR/ITA Player of the Week Maia continued to impress with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Ross clinched the match with his fourth win of the season, a 6-0, 6-3 result.

Freshman Ryan Fishback continued his impressive start to his career with a win in straight sets, and senior Carlo Danota earned his first win of the season for the Hokies on Court 2. Chrysostom won his singles debut in a gutsy three set effort, ending in a 10-point tie break.

The Hokies will kick off ACC play next weekend when they go on the road to face Boston College on Sunday.Gallery: (2-13-2021) 2021 MEN'S TENNIS vs. DAVIDSON
