Pole vault squads finish weekend at Clemson with successful performances

CLEMSON, S.C. – Saturday – Following a strong performance by the Hokies in the women's pole vault final on Friday, the men's group looked to post solid numbers Saturday afternoon. Jacob Rice reached 16' 0.75" (4.90m) to earn third place among all collegiate performers at the meet, and Joey Badalamenti matched his season best mark of 15' 1" (4.60m). 

The third place finish notches another impressive placement for Jacob Rice, who has continued his strong form early in the season.

Up next the Hokies return home to host the Doc Hale Elite Meet, featuring some of the toughest competition Tech will face this year.

CLEMSON, S.C. – Friday – In the first of two events featuring Hokies at the Bob Pollock Invitational, Rachel Baxter and Emily Connor vaulted their way towards a successful event. Baxter won the event with a solid 13' 9" (4.20m) vault, better than all other collegiate performers at the meet, and sophomore Connor secured an eighth-place finish with her 12' 0" (3.65m) mark.
 
The win marked Rachel Baxter's third win in three meets so far this season. The reigning ACC Indoor champion continues her dominant streak, sitting atop the ACC pole vault standings and holding steady with the third highest mark in the nation this season.
 
Saturday will see three more Hokies compete on the men's side, with pole vaulters Harrison Rice, Jacob Rice, and Joey Badalamenti set to perform in the men's pole vault finals at 1 p.m.
