Spring slate announced for Women's Soccer

Opens in a new window 2020-21 Schedule

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's soccer head coach Chugger Adair has announced the team's spring slate, which includes four matches as a continuation of the Fall 2020 season.

The Hokies (5-8, 4-4 ACC) will be on the road for three of the four matches, highlighted by a trip to the GA Showcase in Bradenton, Florida where Tech will clash with Auburn.

"We are excited for the opportunity to play once again," Adair expressed. "This season has been a different one to say the least with the split season. We are grateful and appreciative for the opportunity to build our resume and play outside competition this spring.

"We have put together a challenging and exciting spring schedule with four very difficult games. The competition of these matches will test our group in different ways and hopefully put us in a position to make another NCAA Tournament. We are excited as well to have the opportunity for exposure and feature our team's ability at the GA showcase event at IMG to conclude our regular season!"

Tech opens with a road trip to Charlotte for a 5 p.m. tilt on March 7 against the 49ers. This will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Hokies' historic 2013 season that ended in the program's first College Cup appearance. Tech won that encounter, 2-0.

William & Mary visits Thompson Field on March 20 for the Hokies' lone home fixture of the spring. Tech has a two-match winning streak in the series that the Tribe leads, 5-3.

The Hokies kick-off a new month with a short trip to Lynchburg to take on Liberty, April 1. Tech leads the series, 9-1, which includes a 3-0 result in 2019.

Capping off the regular season, the Hokies head to the Sunshine State for the GA Showcase at IMG Academy on April 16. Tech will square off against Auburn for the second straight season after defeating the Tigers, 3-1, in the 2019 Bulldog Classic in Athens, Georgia.

Selections for the 2020-21 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship will be made on April 18. The tournament field has been reduced to 48 teams (31 AQs, 17 at-large). Tech will aim for its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and 12th overall.
