Hokies to compete in ACC Challenge

BLACKSBURG—The Virginia Tech men's tennis team looks to kick off their season at the ACC Challenge in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Durham, N.C. this weekend.

Location: Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center (Durham, N.C.)
 
Student-athletes from North Carolina, Duke, NC State and Virginia will be in attendance with the Hokies in the competition that gets started on Saturday, January 16, and runs through Monday, January 18.
 
The complete Hokies squad will make the trip to North Carolina. It will be an opportunity for freshmen Alex Ix and Ryan Fishback to make their debuts for Tech, along with the 2021 additions of Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza and Hugo Maia. Jordan Chrysostom, a transfer from Tennessee, could also make his first on-court appearance in maroon and orange.
 
This will be the first competitive action for the players since March 17, 2020, when Tech hosted NC State in Blacksburg, before the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to collegiate spring sports across the country.
