Zawadzki and Mroz qualify for NCAA Diving Zones

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech swim and dive team completed the Virginia Tech Diving Invitational with a successful performance against North Carolina. 

Noah Zawadzki, Joseph Perreault and Izzi Mroz all competed for the Hokies on platform. Both Zawadzki and Mroz qualified for NCAA Diving Zones with their scores from Wednesday. Zawadzki scored 390.60, crushing the qualifying score of 300. Mroz scored 225.38, just above 225, the qualifying mark. 

Following a solid performance on Tuesday, Perreault came in third place in the men's platform, scoring 261.

1st - Noah Zawadzki (390.60)

Women's Platform 
4th - Izzi Mroz (225.38) 

UP NEXT 
The Virginia Tech swim and dive team will travel to Charlottesville to take on in-state foe Virginia in the 2021 Commonwealth Clash on Friday with diving beginning at 4 p.m ET and swimming on Saturday at 11 a.m ET.

(DAY ONE)

 BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech swim and dive team finished up the first day of the Virginia Tech Diving Invitational against North Carolina on Tuesday. 
 
The Hokies and Tar Heels competed in six rounds of the 1M and 3M. On Wednesday the team will compete on the platform starting at 11 a.m. 

HOKIE MEN
The men's 1M was a close call with a three-way tie for first place going into the final dive. Noah Zawadzki along with Carolina's Anton Down-Jenkins and Alexander Hart were neck and neck. Zawadzki finished second with a score of 398.93 and third in the 3M with a score of 370.05. 
 
Taj Cole finished fourth in the 1M with a score of 322.57 and finished 5th in the 3M scoring 329.70. Sophomore Joseph Perreault finished fourth in the 3M with a score of 329.70 and sixth in the 1M scoring 291.22 
 
HOKIE WOMEN
After six dives, Junior Izzi Mroz finished third in the 3M with a score of 293.78. Mroz finished fourth in the 1M scoring 271.65. Teagan Moravek only competed in the 1M, scoring 270.97 and receiving fourth place.  
 
The Hokies will pick back up against the Tar Heels starting at 11 a.m on Wednesday.
