Latona named ACC Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech wrestling's Sam Latona adds ACC Wrestler of the Week to his resume after an undefeated showing in Morgantown, the conference announced Tuesday.
 
Latona, wrestling at 125 pounds, won all three of his matches at the quad meet Sunday afternoon. The redshirt freshman won his first match via forfeit, before winning a 10-2 major decision vs. Kent St. Then-No. 18 Latona concluded his day with a 3-2 decision win over then-No. 12 Killian Cardinale of West Virginia, the only ranked matchup of the day.
 
The Alabaster, Ala. native is a perfect 4-0 on the season with all four of wins coming in dual action. InterMat ranked Latona No. 12 at 125 pounds Tuesday, up six spots from last week.  
 
Latona and the No. 8 Hokies will return to the mat Friday night at North Carolina on the ACC Network starting at 6 p.m.
