Hokies Events: Feb. 7-9

BLACKSBURG - It is a busy weekend at home this weekend with seven home events. Several spring sports are beginning their seasons this weekend for the Hokies, including lacrosse (at home) and softball (on-the-road). 

HOME EVENTS

Swimming & Diving

Christiansburg, Va.
Christiansburg Aquatic Center
Feb. 7-9 | Virginia Tech Invite 

Tech wraps up the regular season this weekend, hosting the Virginia Tech Invitational. The three-day meet will feature the Hokies hosting William & Mary, JMU, Davidson and Towson at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. This is the final meet before Tech heads to Greensboro for the ACC Championships.

Rector Field House
Feb. 7-8 | Doc Hale Elite Meet

The Hokies host their third home indoor meet of the season. Tech only competed in pole vault last weekend, so the Doc Hale will see all disciplines of Hokie track in action at Rector Field House. 

Men's Basketball

Cassell Coliseum
Feb. 8 | Noon - Boston College

The Hokies are looking to bounce back after a road loss to Georgia Tech. Tyrece Radford had 12 points while Landers Nolley chipped in 10 for Tech. Virginia Tech will also look to avenge an earlier road loss to the Eagles.

Feb. 9 | 1 p.m. - Liberty

Virginia Tech returns to BBTC after back-to-back weekends on the road. The Hokies are coming off a 4-3 win over Tulane in which Henrik Korsgaard and Mitch Harper both defeated ranked opponents. They entered the singles standing this week with Korsgaard at No. 93 and Harper at No. 120.

Feb. 8 | 2 p.m. - Davidson

Tech lacrosse opens the 2020 campaign on Saturday, hosting Davidson. Paige Petty was selected to the preseason All-ACC Team and tabbed as an All-American. The Hokies are ranked 23rd in the IWLCA Coaches poll to enter the season. 

Wrestling
Blacksburg, Va.
Moss Arts Center
Feb. 8 | 6 p.m. - Duke

The Hokies host Duke in the final home match of the season. Tech will honor its six seniors prior to the match beginning. It also marks the team's annual match at the Moss Arts Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Winston-Salem, N.C.
JDL Fast Track
Feb. 7-8 | Camel City Invitational

Hokie distance runners will be in action in Winston-Salem this weekend while the rest of the team is in Blacksburg for the Doc Hale Elite meet. The Hokies will compete in the 5,000 on Friday and the 3,000 on Saturday.

Virginia Tech softball opens the 2020 campaign on the road in South Carolina. The Hokies are coming off a season that saw Tech setting over 20 school records and making a trip to NCAAs. Head coach Pete D'Amour claimed ACC Coach of the Year honors last year. Four Hokies were named to the All-ACC preseason team including Keely Rochard, Darby Tull, Jayme Bailey and Kelsey Bennett.

The Hokies are coming off wins over Winthrop and JMU last weekend. Tech is on the road for the first time this season with a 4-0 record heading out to Las Vegas. 

Women's Basketball

Feb. 9 | 1 p.m. - North Carolina

Virginia Tech is on the road looking to come back after falling to No. 7 NC State on Thursday. The Hokies defeated the Tar Heels earlier this season in a 76-70 win at Cassell Coliseum. Aisha Sheppard and Trinity Baptiste each had 16 points in the game for the Hokies. 

Women's Golf

Feb. 9-11 | All Day 

The Hokies hit the course for the first time in 2020, traveling to Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The tournament will consist of 18 holes of play on each of the three days of competition.
