BLACKSBURG – Signing with the women's Virginia Tech track and field team in November, Victoria Perrow has had an impressive start to her high school senior season as the Potomac, Maryland native owns the top times in the country in the 55- and 60-meter dash.
"It's a great feeling knowing I'm No. 1 in the 55m and 60m," Perrow said. "This also motivates me to work harder so that I can attain my indoor goals in the 60m and 200m."
Over the weekend, Perrow ran a time of 7.39 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the Virginia Beach Club Opener to give her the new No. 1 mark in the country. The time was a new personal record for her and would have been a U.S. top-5 time last indoor season.
"After I finished running, the first thing I did was look up at the clock," Perrow said. "When I saw the time, I was pleased because I knew that my hard work was paying off."
Prior to turning in the nation's No. 1 time in the 60 meters, In November she ran a time of 7.01 in the 55 meters to claim the No. 1 time in the event.
" From the very first time I saw Victoria race, I knew she was a very special sprinter," sprints coach Tim Vaught said. "I truly believe that Victoria has the capabilities to one day be a national champion. I can't wait to start working with her. "
After an impressive start to her indoor season, Perrow still seeks to continue her improvement so that she can reach her goals.
My goals going into my senior year was to run 6.80 in the 55m, 7.30 in the 60m and 23.8 in the 200m," Perrow said. "I'm still working on hitting those times. I want Virginia Tech fans to know that I'm a hardworking and fun person that's blessed and excited to be a part of the Hokie family,"
