Hokies travel to Pittsburgh for 2020 season opener

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's soccer team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to kick off their 2020 season as they face the Pitt Panthers. Saturday's contest will be the first time that Hokies have opened a season against an ACC opponent since doing so against N.C. State in 1988.
 
Coverage Details

The Hokies have lofty ambitions after last year's team made a program record fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, ending with the program's third trip to the Sweet Sixteen in the last four seasons.
 
With seven starters returning from last year's team and a talented group of newcomers, the Hokies will look to play a part in this year's ACC North division, with the Hokies predicted to finish third. Senior forward Kristo Strickler was 
 
Pitt Panthers (2-0-0, 1-0-0)
No. 2 ranked Pitt is currently riding a two-game win streak with victories over then No. 5 Notre Dame and Syracuse.
 
The Panthers are led in goals (2) and points (6) by freshman Bertin Jacquesson, as Jacquesson and senior Alexander Dexter both sit with two assists to lead Pitt on the season.

The Hokies are 5-1-4 all-time against the Panthers with last year's 1-3 outcome the first loss against Pitt in program history.

The Hokies will have their first home match of the year as they will face the No. 5 Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday, October 14th.
