Hokies hit the road for matchup with the Cardinals

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's soccer team is set to travel to Louisville for a match against the Cardinals at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. The Hokies look to claim their first win of the season after earning draws in back-to-back home matches.
 
Coverage Details

The Hokies (0-1-2) last outing resulted in a 1-1 draw against Syracuse on Oct. 24.
 
After allowing a goal off a corner kick in the 14th minute Landon Ameres found Nick Blacklock 14 minutes later inside the box for the first goal of his career. The Hellertown, Pennsylvania native used his right foot to fire a shot to the bottom right of the net and past the out stretched legs of Syracuse's keeper. Neither team was to capitalize on any of their chances the remainder of the match.

Louisville is home for the second-straight match and is looking for their first win since defeating Notre Dame 2-1 on October 3.

The Panthers would pull away in the middle of the second half with goals in the 64th and 70th minutes. The Cardinals are led in points by Pedro Fonseca (3 goals, 1 assist) and Amo (2 goals, 0 assists).

The Hokies have dominated the Cardinals historically, boasting a 11-1-5 record. The last time the two teams faced off Tech earned a 2-0 victory in the first round of the 2019 ACC Tournament.
