Hokies welcomes Syracuse to Thompson Field Saturday night

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's soccer team will play their second home match Saturday evening as they face off against Syracuse.
 
Coverage Details

The Hokies (0-1-1) look to claim their first win of the season after their last match against No. 5 Virginia on October 14 ended with a 1-1 draw.
 
Tech was in control for a large portion of contest, holding the advantage in shots (23-12) and corner kicks (9-2) on the night. One of Tech's shots found the back of the net in the 77th minute when Daniel Pereira found through ball found a streaking Kahlil Dover, who was able to use his right foot to power his shot pass the keeper and into the bottom right of the net for the first goal of his career. Virginia found the back off the net a minute later off a free kick. Neither team was to capitalize on any of their chances the remainder of the match.
 
The Orange (2-2)
Syracuse comes to Blacksburg off a 2-2 draw against Louisville after dropping their previous two matches to Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.

Deandre Kerr's goals in the 36th and 77th minutes gave the Orange a 2-0 advantage with 13 minutes to play, but two quick goals by the Cardinals would see the game carry over to extra time with neither team being able to find the back of the net. Kerr's two goals the lead the team as four members from Syracuse each have one assist on the season.
 
Series History
The Hokies are 6-2-0 all-time against the Syracuse and are currently on a two-game win streak, with the last Mach being a 3-1 victory in the 2018 ACC Quarterfinals.
 
On the Horizon
The Hokies hit the road as they face Louisville on Friday, October 30 for their second away match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the ACC Network.
 
Tech is 11-5-1 all-time against the Cardinals with the last contest being a 2-0 decision in the 2019 ACC Tournament.
