BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach John Sung announced the addition of Connor Whipp to the program's staff on Wednesday. Whipp will serve as the program's Director of Operations, assisting with all staff needs including scheduling facilities and events and coordination of travel.
"We are excited to have Connor with us and with his experience working with the men's basketball program and working with Stephanie Ballein, he really knows how to do it at a world class level," Sung said of Whipp. "We haven't missed a beat bringing him in with his familiarity with Tech with him already being here was helpful and he's a really hard worker that fits into what we do as a staff."
Whipp formerly was an apprentice at Army where he assisted the football program in various capacities that included recruiting visits and the West Point Point Football Prospect Camp.
He also spent time at nearby Radford University where he promoted the operational tasks and assignments of the Senior Associate AD and helped to develop the Policies and Procedures Manual.
At Virginia Tech he has worked as the Director of Operations for the softball program, a men's basketball team manager and an equipment manager for the women's basketball program.
A former collegiate athlete, Whipp played basketball for nearby Roanoke College competing in 21 career games at guard before an injury forced his career to came to a premature close. He lives in Blacksburg.
