BLACKSBURG – The Hokie's had their second intrasquad meet on Saturday where once again maroon and orange faced off for the Hokie Belt Challenge.
The orange team was victorious in both men's and women's competition with 288 total points. The women's squad contributed 140 points and the men's squad had 148 points. With the win, the orange team will get five points added to their total Hokie Belt Challenge score.
"We had some awesome swims today, especially from Emma Atkinson, Forrest Webb, AJ Pouch and really everybody else," head coach Sergio Lopez Miro said. "I am very happy, the team has been great at supporting one another."
This meet, the Hokie's swam long-course instead of the normal 25m stretch. This was the first time most of the athletes have competed in this type of race since before COVID-19 hit last spring.
"I didn't know what to expect because for the past six months we haven't been able to train long-course," Lopez Miro said. "But I am happy with how today went."
The third intrasquad meet will be on Saturday Oct. 24th.
