Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – This past Saturday the Hokies opened their season with an intrasquad meet.
Divided equally into orange and maroon, these two teams will compete all year for the title of Hokie Belt Champions. Ran and scored like a regular dual meet, orange and maroon faced off for five additional points to their total team score in the Hokie Belt Challenge.
The women's orange team came out on top with 157 points to the women's maroon teams 151 points. The men's maroon team had a collective 150 points, defeating the 148 points of the men's orange team.
"The team is really embracing this event," head coach Sergio Lopez Miro said. "It went smooth especially considering all the limitations we have this year. I am very proud of the team, coaches and support staff."
The Hokies have three intrasquad meets planned for this semester, the next one will be Saturday, Oct. 10.
