Hokies add transfer for upcoming season

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's soccer head coach Charles "Chugger" Adair has announced an addition to the Hokies as Kendall Feighan comes to Tech after taking the 2019 season off from soccer.

Feighan, a 5-foot-3 midfielder from Pleasant Valley, New York, earned varsity letters all four years playing for Arlington under coaches Kieran McIlvenny (3) and Kelley Hand (1). As a senior, she led the Admirals to its third consecutive Section 1 championship while being named the Class AA New York girls soccer co-Player of the Year, as well as a first team all-state, all-section and all-league performer.

"We're excited to have Kendall join us for the fall," Adair said. "We know her work rate, her soccer ability and her personality are going to impact the team right off the bat. She has a great workman-like mentality that will fit into our team and we'll expect her to work for her opportunities and push for a starting spot or significant minutes."

Feighan registered just 10 assists and eight goals as a senior at Arlington, but shifted from outside to center midfield for her final year to help the team control the ball more and anchor the defense. The team went undefeated in the regular season and reached the state's regional semifinals. The Admirals were 20-1 and advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2017 after winning the state title the year before. As a sophomore in 2016, she scored the game-tying goal in Arlington's NY Class AA state title victory, a double overtime win against three-time defending champion Massapequa.

Included in her sports background, Feighan adds three years of Unified Basketball at Arlington High School along with all of her soccer experience. Unified basketball is a competitive varsity sport organized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, in which special needs athletes are paired with volunteer general education students on co-ed teams, and play games against other high schools. She served as a player/coach under the direction of Richard Dima.

She attended the University of Georgia last year, but did not play for the Bulldogs. She is the younger sister of Tech rising-junior Molly Feighan.
