Tech lands Chrysostom in transfer

BLACKSBURG— Virginia Tech men's tennis head coach Jim Thompson is thrilled to announce the signing of Jordan Chrysostom, a transfer from Tennessee.

Chrysostom, once a five-star star recruit in the class of 2019, is a native of Bowie, Md., and graduated from the International Connections Academy. He was ranked No. 54 nationally and No. 3 in his home state.

In 2016, Chrysostom joined the OSSA Tennis Academy, a tennis development program co-founded by Vince Pulupa and Matz Claesson. Under the instruction of Pulupa, a member of the Adidas national coaching staff, he became the No. 1 ranked doubles player in the USTA junior system and No. 20 in the B18's single rankings.

In his freshman campaign at Tennessee, Chrysostom finished the fall as part of the No. 59 doubles pair in the country. In October, he claimed the doubles title with Pat Harper at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Chrystostom will join the squad in the fall, along with Ryan Fishback and Alex Ix. The class was recently ranked No. 17 in the country by the Tennis Recruiting Network.
