DiNunzio, Montgomery tie for sixth at Golfweek Myrtle Beach Collegiate

Virginia Tech women's golfers Alyssa Montgomery and Becca DiNunzio each finished with a 5-over 221 and tied for sixth place at the Golfweek Myrtle Beach Collegiate on Friday. The three-day event was played at the 6,151-yard, par 72 Dye Club at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
 
Montgomery, a rising sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee shot rounds of 72-76-73=221 and DiNunzio, a rising sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, posted rounds of 74-73-74-221 over the three days of the competition. Both golfers were still on the course on Thursday night when play was suspended due to darkness and were forced to finish their second rounds at 7 a.m. Friday morning prior to the start of the third and final round.
 
Taylor Roberts, an incoming freshman at Florida State, took medalist honors with a 3-under 213, two strokes ahead of runner-up Marissa Wenzler, a rising sophomore at Kentucky.
