BRISTOL, Conn. – The worldwide leader in sports selected 40 of the best head coaches and assistant coaches in Division I men's basketball under the age of 40 and Virginia Tech's Christian Webster was tabbed No. 29 on the prestigious list, as announced by ESPN on Wednesday.
One of the up-and-comers in the business, Webster is one of the youngest assistants in the high-major conferences and has been able to takeaway quite a few things from his current and previous stints.
After playing hoops at Harvard and being a part of the first Crimson team to appear in the NCAA Tournament in 66 years, Webster was then hired as an assistant coach and led Harvard to two NCAA tourneys.
He would go on to coach at UCF as an assistant for one season and then make the trek to Blacksburg in 2016. Since his arrival to Tech, Webster has been a part of grooming three All-ACC selections, a first-round NBA Draft pick and being a key cog in bringing in the No. 26 recruiting class in 2020, according to 247 Sports.
Webster, 29, who is no stranger to other prestigious lists, made the 2017 NABC 30-under-30 list.
Tech was one of two schools on the ESPN 40-under-40 list to have two coaches either on the list or the just missed list, joining Florida, as associate head coach Chester Frazier was on the just missed list.
