MANHEIM, Pa. – Virginia Tech wrestling's John Borst was named a Scholar All-American, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced Thursday.
Borst, a public relations major, went 21-9 on the mat this season and 9-5 in dual meets in his first year starting at heavyweight. Eight of his wins this season were bonus point victories including five by major decision. Borst earned an automatic qualification for the 2020 NCAA Championships after placing third at the 2020 ACC Championships.
Wrestlers who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and were 2020 NCAA Championship qualifiers automatically earn NWCA Scholar All-American status.
