"Teagan Moravek had an excellent, consistent prelim and final to win the women's 1-meter event with an automatic qualifying spot for NCAAs. Regan Westwood had one of the best competitive diving days of her career to get an automatic qualifying spot to NCAAs, going up against a field of 63 divers."
Zawadzki finished third in the men's 3-meter to earn the automatic spot at NCAAs, recording a 711.10. He was joined the finals by freshman Joseph Perreault who finished 11th overall with a 638.95.
"Noah had a really solid prelim, missed a little bit in the finals on his third and fourth dives and had to fight back to get a solid third-place finish," said Piemonte. "He came back really strong on his fifth and sixth dives that were extremely high difficulty and that helped to move him back up into third-place and the automatic qualifying spot. Joseph Perreault also had a solid performance to finish in the top-12, he was one of only two freshmen to make the finals. Overall it was a really good day for the Hokie diving squad to start out this meet."
The Hokies will be back on the boards tomorrow beginning at noon with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
