BLACKSBURG – In their second match of the spring season, the Virginia Tech men's soccer team used goals by Kahlil Dover and Jacob Labovitz to battle Virginia to 3-3 draw. The Hokies would defeat the Cavaliers 5-4 in penalty kicks.
A Reston, Virginia native, Dover led the Hokies in scoring as he placed two in the back of the net Saturday night. Dover is coming off a 2019 season in which he played in eight contests and took seven shots, five of which were on target.
Labovitz was the other Hokie to score and has turned into a reliable offensive weapon since joining the team last fall. Seeing action in all but one contest on the season, Labovitz tied for third on the team in goals with five and was fourth on the team in total points with 12.
Following 90 minutes of play, The Hokies would convert four penalty kicks to win the shootout 4-3 over the Cavaliers. During the spring season, penalty kicks are only considered when determining the final opponent for a team in the spring season.
The Hokies take a week of for spring break before returning to action against James Madison on March 21 at 2 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
